Covering history: Nesse from 1975 to 1988, perished in 1989

For many years Woermann‘ s sire Wöhler was the quintessence of dressage horses in the breeding region of Hanover. The liver chestnut covered for a long time in Burlage and thereafter in Altenbruch from 1967 to 1971. He presented the three approved sons Wohlklang as well as Wunsch I and Wunsch II in his first years. Whilst Wunsch I and Wunsch II were at best average sires (the second nevertheless sired the Olympics horse Woyceck / Harry Boldt), it would have been desirable for the noble and well-bred Wohlklang to carry on the lineage. The stations where he covered (Wittingen and Luhmühlen) however had never really been known as strong producers of stallions, so that Wohlklang who was not only highly esteemed by the Wittingen breeders as the rascal of open dressage in the Celle stallion parades, was restricted to the furnishing of high-class dressage horses and showjumpers, quality brood mares and highly remunerated auction horses. Wohlklang is an exception by far, in this bloodline as regards jumping, as the majority of Wöhler offspring were totally averse to dealing with obstacles. Still, there were a number of Perser xx progeny out of Wöhler dams that became outstanding showjumpers. The upholder of the Wöhler blood therefore came from another quarter. This was Woermann who resuited from the Altenbruch covering period. The liver chestnut Woermann derives from a high class damline. His dam Mandat is one of the few daughters of the Schlenderhan thoroughbred Marabou xx who made prominent appearances. The damline furthermore brought forth such weil-known sires as Ambassadeur (private stallion Oldenburg), Ariston (private stallion Hanover), Boredo (private stallion Westphalia), Dior (Warendorf state stallion), Döbeln (Celle state stallion), Domheld, Fim, Jupiter, Seemann and Sempach (all Neustadt / Dosse state stallions), Gambler‘ s Star (private stallion Hanover), Mylord (Marbach state stallion) as well as Partisan and the top sire of showjumpers Sender (both Celle state stallions). Woermann took up his post at the covering station of Loxstedt-Nesse in the vicinity of Bremerhaven with a great deal of premature praise and performed stud duty there until bis death in the Winter of 1988/89. Deep frozen sperm made it possible for him to be the sire of a number of foals even after bis passing away. His breeding tally is impressive: His first covering season already produced the renown but not undisputed sire Wenzel I, who became vice-champion of the 1982 DLG in Munich. Wenzel I was also stallion performance test winner, just like the one year younger World Cup 1. Both were proclaimed the best stallion of the year in 1984 and 1986 respectively following their approvals and stallion perforrnance tests. In 1984 and 1986, World Cup 1 was DLG vice-champion in Frankfurt respectively, Hanover and was proclaimed “Hanoverian stallion of the year“ in 1997. World Cup 1 set himself a monument in Weltmeyer. From a competition sport perspective, Woermann was not able to fulfil the high expectations placed in him. In spite of numerous opportunities and matings with particularly good mares, his progeny were often hefty and not suited for everyone. The jump onto the international dressage stage was only managed by a small number of his progeny.
